Perturbed by the constant massacre in various parts of Nigeria, particularly in Benue State, the Northern Christian Forum (NCF), Anambra State chapter has called on the federal government to urgently device measures to put an end to the senseless killings.

The President of NCF, Averson Andrew, who made the call, yesterday, during an interaction with journalists in Nnewi, Anambra State, also noted that unless drastic efforts were made by the government to protect farmers in Benue and other states in the Middle Belt, as well as other parts of the country, where such killings are witnessed, the country remained at a risk of hunger and starvation. “Nigerians cannot survive on meat alone, we equally need farm produce to balance our diets but with the wanton destruction of lives and property going on across the country, occasioned by unscrupulous and blood-thirsty killer herdsmen, we must say there is real threat of hunger. These incessant, senseless, barbaric and unwarranted killings have put the All Progressives Congress, APC, government diversification policy into jeopardy as many farmers have been displaced, homeless and could no longer carry out their farming activities due to incessant attacks from the rampaging and marauding herdsmen. We wish to warn that this dastardly activities of the rampaging killer herdsmen alleged to be mainly Fulanis would inadvertently swell the already swollen unemployment market as the present development would adversely affect agro-allied industry.”
