In its effort at eradicating criminality and drug abuse in the country and states, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kwara State said it has uncovered a warehouse in Ilorin metropolis where 4.336 tons of cannabis sativa were allegedly stored.

According to Ceoafrica, the state commander of the drug enforcement agency, Reuben Apeh, said the warehouse which was stocked with 396 bags of cannabis sativa (hemp), weighing 4.336 tons was uncovered in Osere area, along Asa Dam road in the metropolis, in which no arrest was made.

“We are still doing the best we can, to ensure that the culprits do not go out of hands, we are still trailing them,” he said, adding that the seizure was made on the 9th of January, 2017 after about two weeks of acting on tip off from members of the public.

“The seizure was a great relief to humanity considering the effects the use of such drugs could have on the socioeconomic development of the state and Nigeria as a whole.

“Cannabis sativa is a very highly controlled drug not only in Nigeria, whose effects are synonymous with cocaine,” he said, urging journalists to always educate the public particularly the youths about the negative effects of the use of such drugs on the family, the society, state and country as a whole.
