Golden Eaglets Zoomed to Quarter-Finals by Beating Iran 4-1

The Nigerian U-17 side showed tournament favourite class by defeating their Iranian counterpart 4-1to qualify for the quarter-finals at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in United  Arab Emirates.

The first goal of the encounter was scored by Okon in the 25th minute of the game when he perfectly slotted in from Musa Yahaya’s cross.

Kelechi Iheanacho made it two in the 27th minute when he placed the ball behind the onrushing Iranian goalkeeper courtesy Taiwo Awoniyi’s pass. The mercurial midfielder made it his fifth goal of the tournament. He was replaced in the 30th minute due to injury.

In the 42nd minute of the encounter, Captain Musa Mohammed made it three with a rattled shot which goalkeeper Amini couldn’t prevent from going inside the net.

The second half began with the Iranians trying to reduce the tally, but Musa Yahaya made it four in the 75th minutes when he fired a ferocious shot past the Iranian goalkeeper.

In the 84th minute of the encounter, the Iranians pulled one back to make the score line 4-1 through Guaelizade.

The Golden Eaglets will face Uruguay in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
