As the Nigerian Female U-20 side the Falconets is edging closer to the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada by beating Sierra Leone 10-0 in a qualifying game played at the Abuja National Stadium last Saturday, coach of the team has expressed his view about the victory, saying his girls surprised him.

Coach Peter Dedevbo, who was in-charge of the team, said he never expected the huge number of goals recorded:

“It’s a good result and I’m very happy but honestly I did not expect ten goals. Victory, I was confident, but ten goals, I never expected it.

“Yes, during our build up games, we were not as efficient in front of goal as we were today (saturday) so I’m must salute the players mentality and commitment”, he added.

He said the team is still a work in progress despite the huge score line recorded:

“Though one is happy with the result but we still have a lot of work to do in the team to make it better before the return leg match in Sierra Leone.

“So we’re intensifying our preparations, we’re not going to take things for granted and at the same time we’re not afraid of the Sierra Leonians in their back yard during the return leg match.

“As part of our continuous building exercise, some of the current players will have to make way for new ones that will be invited to camp as not all the players who took part in the qualifiers will make the final cut for the Canada world Cup proper”, he stressed.
