The Nigerian U-17 team qualified for the round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates when they defeated Iraq 5-0.

It was a game which put the Manu Garba-tutored side at their best when they got the first goal of the encounter through a penalty converted in the 2nd minute by Mohammed, before Yahaya made it two in the 4th minute from a well taken shot.

Nwakali made it three in the 20th minute of the highly entertaining encounter and the fourth goal of the game came through Yahaya from a corner-kick.

The second half started with the Iraqis waking up from their slumber and holding on to the score line, only to be  denied by brilliant goalkeeping of Dele Alampasu.

However, Chigozi Obasi made it five in the 90th minute when he struck from a well placed pass courtesy midfield maestro, Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Golden Eaglets will have to wait till the end of group games before knowing their opponent in the round of 16.
