World Voice Day is celebrated on April 16, every year. It is an occasion dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of the human voice and vocal health. It also serves as a reminder to cherish and care for our vocal cords, ensuring that they remain healthy and capable of conveying our thoughts, emotions, and desires effectively.

The concept of World Voice Day was initiated by a group of otolaryngologists and voice scientists who recognised the need to educate the public about the significance of vocal health. The first World Voice Day was celebrated in 1999, with events held in over 50 countries. Since then, the observance has grown significantly, with organisations, healthcare professionals, educators, and performers worldwide joining in to promote vocal wellness and advocacy.

The theme for 2024 World Voice Day is “RESONATE. EDUCATE. CELEBRATE!” Awareness is a critical factor influencing early diagnosis, best treatment practices, funding for research and, hopefully, cures.

The aim of World Voice Day (WVD) is to show the enormous value of the voice in people’s daily lives. Voice is an important aspect of healthy and effective communication. The WVD brings worldwide awareness of the necessity of preventing voice issues, training the artistic voice, rehabilitating the sick or deviant voice as well as researching the application and function of the voice.

The World Voice Day goal is to encourage people to use their voice for pleasure or business to learn how they can take care of their voice, know how they can seek help as well as training, and support research that is carried on the voice. The production of voice is normally studied and applied in lots of disciplines like biology, art, phonetics, psychology, physics, music, speech-language pathology, and medicine.
