Djibouti Hosts Japanese Prime Minister

From Djibouti, CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe has concluded his official visit to Djibouti.

It was reported that the prime minister visited Japanese defence forces stationed in Djibouti and later met with government officials of Djibouti.  

Sources disclosed that Abe toured the Japanese military base in Djibouti, meeting with over 700 soldiers fighting piracy in the Horn of Africa are stationed, after which he was welcomed to the Presidential palace by the country’s leader, President Ismail Omar Guelleh, where they discussed economic relations between the two countries, as well as security in Somalia and the fight against piracy in the region.

The Japanese Prime Minister also met with Djiboutian Minister for Internal Co-operation Ahmed Ali Silay, who received him at the airport, and visited Tokyo Place, a memorial site designed to remember victims of the 2011 tsunami in Japan.
