Oyo 2015: Folarin picks running-mate

Oyo State gubernatorial candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Teslim Kolawole Folarin yesterday announced Ezekiel Oyedepo as his running-mate for the 28th February, 2015 governorship election.

The deputy-governorship candidate, Oyedepo was a former Chairman of Oriire Local Government in Ogbomoso zone of the state as disclosed by Folarin, who also appointed a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Asimiyu Alarape from Oyo Alaafin as the Director-General of his campaign team.

At a meeting of the party leaders from the 33 local government areas of the state held at the Dandaru, Mokola, Ibadan state secretariat of the party Folarin assured the party members of victory at the poll saying, "we need not fear because it has been ordained that we shall win, this is our time and by the grace of God, we will win.

"All our candidates for the state House of Assembly, House of Representatives including our three senators will win and Mr. President will win", the gubernatorial candidate assured.

To achieve their set-objective, he tasked all the candidates at all levels to work for the success of PDP, stressing that, "the people of the state are eagerly waiting for us in 2015 and we must close ranks, work in unity and be at peace with all the members of this great party for us to emerge victorious".

While promising that his programmes for the people of the state have been captured in the blue-print that is people-centered and result oriented, Folarin maintained that, the priority areas of his administration would include agriculture, education, youth empowerment, affordable housing and above all, meeting the essential needs of the people at all times.

Alongside the party leaders at the meeting were all the candidates of the party that emerged after the party's primaries in the state including Ayoade Adeseun who is re-contesting for Oyo Central and  Adedeji Otiti gunning for Oyo South Senatorial Districts.

The party also returned the incumbent Deputy Senate Whip, Hosea Ayoola Agboola to contest for the seat in Oyo North.

Addressing the gathering, the party state chairman, Yinka Taiwo preached unity among party members as he equally expressed optimism that the PDP would take over the reign of governance in the state come next year.

Taiwo added that other parties in the state were having their own bundle of crises too, maintaining that with the reconciliation going on, the PDP would win at all levels in the next year's election.
