Columbus Short speaks on his exit from the ABC hit series 'Scandal'.

He played Harrison Wright on the Shonda Rhimes political thriller 'Scandal'. Columbus Short however exited the show in its third season amid domestic violence claims by his now ex-wife, Tanee McCall-Short.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, the 'Scandal' actor revealed that he was doing and struggling with drugs.

"I was doing cocaine and drinking a lot, and trying to balance a 16-hour work schedule a day, and a family, and, I just lost myself back then.

Short also revealed that his old boss Shonda Rhimes and the 'Scandal ' cast, knew about his problems with drug abuse.

"And if we're going to be fully transparent, they protected me and they held me down. And that was one of the real reasons – they just wanted me to get my stuff together.

Describing 'Scandal' as his family, the Scandal actor says he would love nothing more than to return to the show.

"Sometimes the bottom has to be dropped out for you to really get it. So I moved to Atlanta. I've been living there for the last five months, five-and-a-half months, and it's just been great. It's been life changing."

"I'm really ready to get back to work. As far as Shonda's shows, I would love nothing more to go back to 'Scandal.' It's my family."

Short's character was killed off in the third season of the ABC hit series 'Scandal'.
