Provost FCAH&PT Ibadan hosts NACHARD, group tasks FG on food security

The Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT), Moor Plantation, Apata, Ibadan, Oyo State, through her provost, Dr Olatunde Adekoya Owosibo, has hosted the National Association of Committee of Heads of Colleges of Agriculture and Related Discipline (NACHARD), in a crucial economic revival and recovery event.
This is contained in a statement sent to CEOAFRICA by the provost, who explained that the meeting of the heads of colleges of Agriculture and related disciplines was the second edition of such meetings so far.
The conference was held on Tuesday, while meeting was held on Wednesday, November 15 and 16, 2022, respectively.
The conference saw the eggheads proffering solutions to the recurring food insecurity in Nigeria, despite the country’s vast arable agricultural lands and enormous human resources.
The chairman of the committee, Dr. Oluyemi Akande said that Nigeria must reposition the agricultural sector as a means of economic diversification, food security and combating general insecurity problems in post COVID-19 pandemic era.
Dr Akande made the call as he read the communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, adding that any nation that is strategic about development should never neglect the potentials embedded in the agricultural sector to earn her foreign exchange.
Several dignitaries were invited for the event, including directors of research institutes, traditional rulers, past and present members of the National Assembly, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, Ministers, President Muhammadu Buhari.
Many of the dignitaries were given award; the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, thanked NACHARD for the awakening of consciousness.
