The Cross River State Government has declared that it is working towards buying waste from residents in the State with those in urban areas at top priority.
This was disclosed by the General manager of the State Waste Management Agency, Sunny Uko at an event organised by Nigerian Society of Engineers in Calabar.
Uko, who spoke during the event explained that the last four months has been challenging as waste disposal poses a threat to the Government with heaps of waste blocking the major roads in the State.
The General Manager said after deliberations the only feasible solution arrived at by the Government is to buy waste from residents who do not pay evacuation fees.
“We have a plan to buy waste from residents of the State.
“We will go from house to house to evaluate and buy them.’’
