The Vice Chancellor, Chrisland University, Abeokuta, Prof. Chinedu Peace Babalola, has explained that her kindness, being spoken of by many today, is a virtue she learnt from her immediate younger sister, Late Mrs Uchechi Chimatara Okoli, a former Assistant General Manager, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.
In an interview with CEOAFRICA, during the Service of Songs held in honour of the deceased at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, Lekki, Lagos (popularly known as the Trinity Towers), the award-winning scholar described the Late Uchechi, who was also her immediate younger sister, as one whose legacies and impacts will forever remain.
This was in addition to the voice of many who have already stated that Uchechi’s kind may never be found again on the face of the earth, as her sojourn here was remarkable, due to the lives she touched positively.
In her words "Uchechi, I believe, was born a star. She lived her life to the fullest, very vibrant, no dull moment, very active, very bubbling, I can’t remember a dull moment with her; I can’t even remember.
Uchechi being seriously ill. I can only remember when she had chicken pox, maybe when she was 10. She was still active on vacation at our mum’s place.
She lightens up everywhere and knows how to makeup, even when there is strife. Not that she doesn’t have argument. She does have argument with people but they are not deep-seated, she makes up. She says her mind.
And if you don’t like it she may frown at you today and tomorrow she is laughing with you. But she loved life. She loved enjoyment.
She is also a connector. She connects family. Anything in the family, she will be there. So she lived a full life, though short.
She taught me kindness. She could shout so you may not know she is kind".
Corroborating the don, the deceased’s brother-in-law, Mr Henry Okoli, explained that the love and light shed by his now late sister-in-law would never be found anywhere in the world, as she was able to make the family a rallying point for many.
Late Uchechi had a 28-year blossoming career at the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, before retiring in 2021.
In his sermon, the Presiding Pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of David Parish, Lekki, Lagos (popularly known as the Trinity Towers), Pastor Idowu Iluyomade,  stated that the Late Federal Mortgage Bank boss, Mrs Uchechi Okoli, surprised everyone, as she said that she was on a long journey and would not return.
Speaking through his assistant, Pastor Trevoh, during the service of songs held in memory of the woman of many qualities in a brief exhortation, the cleric explained that while they were praying, as requested by the deceased, who had called on him for prayers, she broke the news to them, which they thought could mean that she was willing to join her son in London.
Pastor Idowu, popularly called Pastor I.D, whose qualities the deceased cherished while alive, further charged the congregation to emulate Uchechi, in making heaven their focus in all their endeavours.
In the exhortation, the minister equally noted that he learnt something from Late Uchechi, which is, keeping records of people’s names and pictures, and continually praying for their salvation, as he added that wherever she served she made a mark.
Meanwhile, the Vicar, St Stepehen’s Anglican Church, Inalende, Ibadan, and brother-in-law to the deceased, who is married to Prof. Chinedum Peace Babalola, Ven. Collins Olufemi Babalola, had earlier stated that he saw the Late Uchechi in a dream, glowing in a radiant raiment, while declaring that she wanted to go home.
Her children and other family member shed tears, while recounting all that she was to them.
