Former Governor of Oyo State, Late Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala has been described as a legend, astute political leader, strategist, who brought glamour to governance

This was contained in a tribute to the late former Governor by a former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Chief Iyiola Oladokun.

Describing the sudden death of late Akala as rude shock, Chief Oladokun, who was Deputy Governor to late Governor Lam Adesina of Oyo State, lamented that late Akala died when he was needed most as a pillar in shaping the political future of Nigeria and Oyo State.

He recalled that late Akala, the only surviving former Governor in the All Progressives Congress, APC in Oyo State, was deep in the drawing board, strategizing, before his death, on how APC could reclaim Oyo State next year.

“He was committed to reunite our party, APC, as the chairman of APC Elders Council in Oyo State, a body set up at the national level, to balance the activities of the various tendencies within the party in the state," he disclosed .

Chief Oladokun recalled that late Akala, as local government Chairman, gave his best to the people of Ogbomoso.

“As Deputy Governor and Governor respectively, Akala’s performances and commitments to the downtrodden were unprecedent. He was a man with large heart," Chief Oladokun observed.

He praised late Akala for his loyalty, dedication, strides as a leader and team player, “with a commitment to lead APC to recapture Oyo State,"

Chief Iyiola Oladokun, who described late Akala as a diligent Christian and a Baptist to the core, prayed that God will grant him eternal rest.

He prayed that God will also grant late Akala’s family, the people of Ogbomosho, his admirers who cut across party lines and APC, the fortitude to bear the loss.
