NDLEA, Oyo Command lists achievements

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Oyo State Command, have three hundred and thirty suspects (330) involved in various drug offences.

The three hundred and thirty suspects (male - 297, female - 33) were arrested over their dealings in Cannabis sativa, Tramadol, Diazepam, Rohypnol, Colorado, codeine, chocolate infused with codeine and other psychotropic substances.

The command made this known while listing its achievements in the year ending 2021, according to a press release by the Command’s Public Relation Officer, Okuwobi Mutiat and which was made available to CEOAFRICA.

In the release, the command also recorded total seizure of 3543.956kg of Cannabis sativa and other narcotic and psychotropic substances during the period under review.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Oyo State Command, under the leadership of Dr. Wale Ige, mni, ACGN arrested 330 three hundred and thirty suspects, (male - 297, female - 33 ) for various drug offences which include dealing in Cannabis sativa, Tramadol, Diazepam, Rohypnol, Colorado, codeine, chocolate infused with codeine and other psychotropic substances in the year ending 2021.

The Command recorded total seizure of 3543.956kg of Cannabis sativa and other narcotic and psychotropic substances during the period under review.

NON-DRUG EXHIBIT.

  1. Four (4) locally fabricated pistols with Seven (7) cartridges.
  2. Black colour Toyota Sequoia with registration Number LAGOS MUS 553 with 608.40kg of C/S.

3. Red Nissan Primera with registration number No LAGOS FKJ 890 DZ seized alongside 85.90kg of Cannabis sativa.

Cannabis farm destruction: 0.692155 hectare of cannabis farm located at Olosun village, Akinyele LGA was also destroyed during the year 2021.

Out of 101 suspects charged to court, 48 (forty-eight) suspects were convicted for various drug offences with jail terms ranging from 6 (six) months to life imprisonment.

The Command gave brief intervention via counselling to 104 (one hundred and four) People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) 98 male and 6 female.

We presently have 5 five clients undergoing residential rehabilitation.

10 (ten) persons who were rehabilitated are integrated back to the society during the year under review.

Furthermore, the Command's sensitisation programmes were extended to over 164 schools and some private organisations and we urge schools and other organisations to give our officers platforms to enlighten the students within the State.

We also participated in various radio and television programmes weekly throughout the year 2021.
