MONDAY, 25th October, 2021: The Chief Executive Officer, GMH Luxury Homes, Ayo Olanrewaju Joseph has called on the Federal Government to digitalise the process of obtaining planning permit to reinvigorate the housing sector in the country.
Joseph who said this while speaking at a news conference in Lagos, added, "“One of the major challenges we are facing is government policies. Lagos state is doing a lot to sanitise the industry but we know that the attitude of the public sector is different in terms of service delivery and inefficiency of personnel in the sector. The Bureaucracy created around planning permits, obtaining a certificate for completed projects, encourages corruption.”
“Our model is a reflection of what is happening in our society. If you want to buy a house of 55m, the initial deposit is N15m. The majority of the people who buy houses are emotional buyers, they see people buying houses. Houses should be assets and not a liability.”
He went on to vow to deliver 60 affordable luxury homes by the end of the year to cushion housing deficit in the country.
He said, “We would deliver 60 luxury homes by the end of 2021. GMH would deliver over 200 houses by 2024. We are in the luxury market; it is not the quantity but quality. We go back every two years for post-market evaluation so that going forward to the new developments, we go back to incorporate them into our new designs."
Also speaking, the Head, Sales and Marketing, Okeowo Olasubomi, said the firm was ready to improve on its product.
“We at GMH are solely concerned about an ideal, spacious living, entertainment and plenty of playrooms. We deliver luxurious yet affordable homes. When we say luxury, we say the amount of qualitative value we put into our homes. We provide homes of N36m at Lekki Phase 1. We choose our location very well, to meet the kind of clientele we are servicing and we deliver what they want to meet their lifestyle.”
