Senate committee given November 24 deadline to submit 2022 budget reports.

TUESDAY, 19th October, 2021: The Senate Committee on Appropriation, had yesterday met with the chairmen of standing committees of the red chamber and asked them to submit their budget reports on or before November 24.
The Appropriation panel had also released the approved time-table for the consideration of the 2022 Appropriation Bill.
Speaking on this development, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Barau Jubril, stated that the meeting was in line with the guiding principle of budget hearing for all chairmen of standing committees who have been availed of the guidelines for the 2022 budget hearings.
According to the time-table released by Barau, the budget hearings and engagement with Ministries, Departments and Agencies by Appropriation sub-committees in the Senate will hold between October 18 and November 5, 2021.
The public hearing by the Appropriation Committee will hold on November 8 and 9, 2021 while submission and defence of budget reports by sub-committees will hold from November 10 to November 24, 2021.
The collation/harmonisation of reports by the Senate Appropriation Committee will take place from November 25 to December 7, 2021.
The printing and distribution of the budget report will be done between December 8 and December 13, 2021 while the laying and presentation of the budget report will take place on December 14, 2021.
The consideration and passage of the 2022 Appropriation Bill by the Senate is fixed for December 15 to December 16, 2021, according to the time table.
