Wednesday 18 August 2021: Nigeria Super Eagles will begin their bid to win their fourth Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
In the draw for the 33rd edition of the AFCON that held in Yaoundé on Tuesday, Nigeria tops Group D with Egypt drawn as the second team in the group and will therefore open their campaign of the tournament. Sudan and Guinea Bissau conclude the teams in Group D.
The opening game of the tournament will be between the host country, Cameroon and Burkina Faso, who were both drawn in Group A first and second team respectively. Ethiopia and Cape Verde conclude the teams in Group A.
Senegal, the highest ranked African country leads Group B that also has Zimbabwe, Guinea and Malawi, while Group C has Morocco, Ghana, Comorros and Gabon.
Teams in Group E are defending champions Algeria, Sierra Leone, Equatorial Guinee and Cote d’ Ivoire. Tunisia tops Group F that also has Mali, Mauritania and Gambia.
