Chrisland University Inaugurates her NACOS Chapter

Wednesday- 7th July, 2021: Computer science students of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, were inaugurated on Tuesday to become members of the National Association of Computing Students, (NACOS).

The inauguration ceremony which took place at the University’s Multipurpose Hall was graced by the National President of NACOS, Mr Olamilekan Abolade; Head of Department of Computer Science, Professor Zaccheus Oni Omogbadegun; management team of the university and computer science students.

The epoch making event featured the appointment of the new executives, intellectual presentations by the students and others.

The national president of the association, Mr Abolade while explaining the vision and mission of the association disclosed that NACOS is an umbrella body for all computer science students, computer engineering, cyber security, information system and other IT related courses in various institutions. He noted that unlike all other students’ associations, NACOS as an association is distinct.

According to him, the association is a body that creates values for students.

In an interview with CEOAFRICA, Abolade said that there coming to Chrisland University is a way of showing appreciation to what Chrisland University is doing by giving qualitative education to students running IT related courses.

He noted that joining the association is a good way for them to mingle and see how the competing courses are being studied and how It is being run.

On what the students stand to gain, he said “They will be competing with other institutions in Nigeria on software competition, innovation challenge, etc and other innovative ideas.

“We are in competitive world, everybody now needs IT in other to improve themselves,” he added.

On his part, the head of the department, Professor Omogbadegun, said that the objective of the school allowing its students to join the association is to allow the students to join an umbrella where everybody will fill equal and help them to fit in the society.

Omogbadegun noted that the students stand to benefit immensely from the association. These includes organizing tutorial classes noting that bringing talents together helps to improve students’ capabilities as well as helping one another including the needy among the students who are members of the association. He added that this would help them to solve issues in the society and provide solutions to the entire world. And it will also help them to fit in the society.

He said the university will support the students to achieve their aim of joining the association.

He said “the university will support the student through funding some of their projects. The students would also be exposed to attending excursions, conferences, which in turn would shore up on the good image of Christland University.”

One of the students of the institution who doubles as the newly elected president of the association, Omoniyi Olalekan, while speaking on his plan to lead the association, pledged to lead the students in a very good manner, to follow the association’s constitution, accommodate and work together as one body.

He urged the other excos and the entire members of the association to join him by cooperating with him to develop and achieve the aim of the inauguration of the association.
