About seven members of the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram were reportedly arrested on Monday at Shaffa town in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno state.

A resident of the town, Mallam Zakariya Shizhawu, who made this known to us said, the suspects have been terrorizing Shaffa town and its environs.

“Thank God Seven boko haram suspected operatives who have been terrorizing our community were arrested yesterday (Monday) by security agents following a tip off” Shizhawu said.

He revealed that town has been filled with jubilation since on Monday following the arrest of the suspected sect members whom he said were believed to be sponsored by insiders.

It was gathered that the people which had a sigh of relief over the arrest were seen going about their legal duties following the normalcy that has returned to the town.

Meanwhile, Shaffa is about 4 kilometres drive from Azare, the headquarters of Hawul, which is located in the south and approximately 200 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital.

A lot of drama has unfolded in the course of federal government fight against Boko Haram, a lot of innocent people have reportedly died, as well as most of the sect members, but the most recent and shocking one is the sentencing to death of 12 out of the 18 soldiers standing trial for attempted murder and mutiny in Maimalari cantonment, Maiduguri, Borno State capital.

The issue of insurgency has also become a political tool as our various party leaders have resulted to passing blames on their party instead of addressing it. Just recently a former governor was indicted over sponsoring the terrorists group but the federal government is yet to come up with something tangible to weld the axe on the terrorist group and its sponsors.

Meanwhile, on August 28, 2014, ex-Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasir El-Rufai had accused Ali Modu Sheriff and Gen. Ihejirika of being Boko Haram sponsors.
