Two members of Oyo State Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) Coordinator have been suspended for allegedly dragging the congress into Oyo politics.

The suspended coordinators are in Ibadan North-West Local Government of the state.

The suspended OPC Coordinators are, Mr. Akinola Olaniyi and Mr. Ademola Adeniji.

They were sanctioned over a news report that the Otunba Gani Adams led OPC has endorsed Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the state for second term.

The duo allegedly made this statement during a purported "Oodua Day" sponsored by the Caretaker Chairman of Ibadan North-West, Hon. Wasiu Olatubosun, last week.

However, speaking with newsmen at the weekend, the Chairman of OPC in the state, Chief Adeagbo Adeola Musediq, said that the OPC was surprised to hear the news credited to Olatubosun that both OPC leaders in his council area has endorsed Governor Ajimobi for second term ambition.

The Oyo OPC Chairman maintained that the organisation is not a political one, but a socio cultural organization which aims at promoting the rich culture of the Yoruba race.

Chief Adeagbo added that the OPC led by Otunba Gani Adams does not support any political party, as it has its members in different political parties.

According to him, the OPC has its members in about 42 different countries all over the world under the umbrella of the Oodua Progressive Union (OPU), and that the action of the suspended members by endorsing a particular candidate or political party was capable of sending wrong signal.
