The Emir of Daura in Katsina State, Alhaji Umar Faruk, has said that his decision not to open a bank account was informed by his desire not to accumulate wealth, while majority of his subjects are living in abject poverty.

Speaking when he received the campaign team of former speaker, House of Representatives,  Aminu Bello Masari, the emir lamented that many people do not have access to basic necessities of life.
He wondered why some people have more than they need while many others live in abject poverty.
He said amassing wealth is not part of his plans, adding “I freely spend my earnings among my subjects so as to enable them cater for their daily needs.
He flayed political leaders who have made it a habit of amassing wealth for themselves and children, urging them to remember that  a time shall come when everyone will answer for his/her deeds.
The emir also called on people of the state to elect God fearing people who will protect their interests by providing the needed leadership for growth and development.
Earlier, the former speaker, Aminu Bello Masari, said bad leadership is responsible for poverty in the country.
