U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh rules against Apple

U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh ruled that AAPL didn’t provide proof that Samsung smartphones with features patented by the iPhone creator would “harm to its reputation or goodwill as an innovator.” The judge claims that the tech company’s reputation as an innovator is “extremely robust,”.

Earlier this year, Apple won a case against Samsung over three of its patents. The three patents included features that were found in some of Samsung’s smartphones, which is why AAPL sough to have the selling of those smartphones banned, Reuters notes.

Samsung has lost two separate patent cases against Apple. The company plans to appeal both of those rulings. If it can’t overturn the rulings, it will have to pay over $1 billion in damages to the company, reports The Wall Street Journal.
