A socio-political group, De Servants, has asked the Northern Elders Forum to assist President Goodluck Jonathan and the country to get the abducted Chibok girls back instead of apportioning blames.

The group said this during a news conference on the state of the nation in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on Tuesday.

At the conference, attended by representatives of political groups across the six geopolitical zones, De Servants endorsed President Jonathan for second term.

Leader of the group, Mr. Kime Engozu, said it was the responsibility of all Nigerians to fight insecurity in the country.

He said the group would invite the northern elders to work with the Federal Government for the release of the Chibok girls and restore peace in the country.

“Let all of us work as nation builders and not nation destroyers,” Kime said.

He said their endorsement of Jonathan for second term was to enable him to consolidate on his achievements so far.

Kime, who reeled out the President’s achievements in the areas of rule of law, power, transport and infrastructure among others, said Jonathan is a divine providence for Nigeria.

He commended the President for the recent conduct of free and fair elections in Ekiti and Osun states, saying his statesmanship in conceding his party’s defeat in Osun was a welcome development.

He urged the members of the opposition to shun politics of acrimony, blackmail and be nationalistic in nature for the development of democratic governance.

He said, “Whereas we appreciate the emergence of virile opposition parties, we plead that they should be nationalistic.

“They should always endeavour to shun politics of acrimony, blackmail, threats to national security and careless use of derogatory language.

“We also acknowledge the constitutional right of Mr. President to seek reelection and any other person with similar or other ambition to contest without intimidation.

“We resolve that having been satisfied with the monumental achievements of Jonathan, we have no option but to urge him to exercise his constitutional right to seek reelection into the exalted office of the President.

“Therefore, he should declare his ambition openly as soon as possible.”

In his goodwill message, National Coordinator, Turn the Tide Nigeria Initiative (T3), Benjamin Oyinloye, said Jonathan’s performance was not rhetorics.

He said as a person from the North Central, he saw how Jonathan had succeeded in demystifying the syndrome of godfatherism and thereby giving the people a sense of liberation.
