A single engine citation aircraft has been declared missing by Nigerian and Cameroonian aviation authorities.

The American registered aircraft marked with registration number N9784L, reportedly departed Kano at 6.12am local time on Tuesday and was expected to land in Douala, Cameroon, at 11.04am local time.

According to a source, the aircraft had contact with air traffic controllers in Douala at 11.16am local time.

The aircraft has only the pilot on board.

CEOAFRICA news desk learnt that Nigerian aviation authorities are collaborating with their Cameroonian counterparts on how to commence search and rescue operations.
