Alhaji Atiku Abubaka, Former Vice President of Nigeria
A former Vice President of the country, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has urged the Federal Government against turning the country into a police state through the activities of security agents in the country.
The assertion was part of his reaction to the restrictions placed on the movement of some All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and party members, while on their way to attend the campaign rally in Ekiti State yesterday.
A statement issued in Abuja by his (Atiku’s) Media Office, stated that the action of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led government in stopping the governors of Kano, Rivers and Edo from attending the governorship campaign rally was akin to what obtained in some ‘Banana Republics.’
Turaki Adamawa was particularly miffed at the way the Federal Government had been dragging the military and police into politics warning that “the government must stop instigating state security agents paid from tax payers money against helpless, hapless and law abiding Nigerians.
