Chief Bisi Ilaka
Ibrahim Adepoju, a strong supporter of Chief Bisi Ilaka from Akinyele Local Government, writes in favour of Chief Bisi Ilaka clarifying misconceptions and wrong impressions about the said Man of Intergrity.
Below is the write up released by Mr Ibrahim Adepoju
"Recently I stumbled on a petition signed by a few disgruntled and ill advised set of young men who refer to themselves as the grass root mobilisers, against the distinguished personality of chief Bisi Ilaka, Accord senatorial Candidate in the 2011 elections and by the grace of God, the party's candidate come 2015 elections.
Ordinarily I should not waste my time and energy to honour such trash that is not worthy of the paper it is written on, but for the sake of some innocent bystander who may not have had the opportunity to meet the Ladilu of Oyo kingdom from having a wrong impression of the highly respected chief Bisi Ilaka, I am compelled to react.
I am worried that people might be hoodwinked into believing the worst of chief Ilaka as a result of the falsehood in the said petition, before they have a chance to meet him. The harebrained piece was written for no other reason than to tarnish the image of Chief Bisi Ilaka.
Chief Bisi Ilaka is a marquee of the Accord Party, having joined Senator Rasidi Ladoja at the inception of the party three months before the 2011 elections, At that time nobody gave the party a whisker of a chance, Ilaka stood tall behind Senator Ladoja, put his money where his mouth is, contested as a Senator to represent Oyo central senatorial zone and won, but lost out to the deceit and vagaries inherent in the Nigeria political and judicial system.
Today Accord, that little acorn seed has grown to become a big tree, a seed nurtured by Senator Ladoja, with help and encouragement from chief Ilaka and other like minds, who invested their time and money to bring the party to its present enviable position.
Now a few nonentities who could not even mobilise members of their household for elections have the temerity to write a petition asking the party hierarchy not to consider Chief Bisi Ilaka as candidate for the Oyo central senatorial ticket. What nonsense?
Let's pause but a moment, to find out who these so called grass root mobilisers might be, my guess would be that, they are a few nitwits who are been bankrolled by "a Jonny just come lately politician " who is hoping to reap where he has not sown. Having dispensed a few wads of naira notes to these political ragamuffins, they cast aspersion on the person of Chief Bisi Ilaka and intend to portray him in bad light before the eyes of right thinking electorates of the Oyo Central Senatorial zone, and to promote disaffection amongst his teeming followers and the party hierarchy.
In their ludicrous attempt to compile a list of chief Ilaka's many sins, they noted that he built a hospital in Lagos instead of his senatorial district, they went as far as attaching a photo copy of the newspaper report on their sordid petition, are they not ashamed? That they have chosen to make politics out of what he built in memory of his loving son who passed away some time ago? Chief Ilaka though not yet in office has done more for people of Oyo state and Oyo central in particular than most of the elected candidates who had held office in Oyo central senatorial district.
They also affirmed that Chief Bisi Ilaka is unapproachable and unfriendly, these allegations are not only baseless but lacking in substance, The Chief Ilaka that every other person knows is friendly, approachable, a gentleman that is cultured, learned and generous to a fault.
I want to advice the grassroot mobiliser, to channel their mobilising skills, if they possess any at all to more constructive and praiseworthy activities that will elevate our party. Instead of them trying to bring a good man down.
No matter the campaign of calumny against Chief Bisi Ilaka he still remains the people’s choice to run for the Oyo central senatorial zone in Accord. They should refund whatever they have received from their pay masters, because they have been duped into engaging themselves in a project wherein there is only one foreseeable outcome, which is FAILURE."
