Ayo Fayose, Ekiti State PDP Gubernatorial Aspirant.
Ekiti State governorship candidate, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has said President Goodluck Jonathan was totally committed to his emergence as governor of the state come June 21, 2014, saying the President will provide anything he wants for the election for him.
The former governor said this during a forum with members of the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Ado Ekiti on Thursday.
He said, “The President is committed to my cause. When he came last Saturday for the mega rally, he saw and was convinced and he has told me that anything I want, he will provide for me.
He said, “We cannot be fighting the Presidency. Even if you’re in the opposition, you have to find a way to appeal to him, otherwise, you’ll be at a disadvantage. In this election, there will be heavy military presence and I have said that if they (opposition) want to spend, I will surpass them.
Fayose maintained that the President was willing to do anything to ensure that he emerged as the next governor of the state.
The former governor, who is running on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, said Ekiti state would develop faster if it aligned with the Federal Government rather than being in the opposition.
He lamented that there were too few Ekiti indigenes in the police and military as well as the federal civil service. He said this would change if he became governor.
He said when he travelled to Abuja to see Jonathan, the President promised him a major slot.
Fayose urged members if the NLC to ensure that he became governor as this was the only way suffering would end in the state.
He said, “You are in a position to save Ekiti because you are enlightened. If I say you set vote for me, you have no choice because you have no other person to vote for.
“They have destroyed this state to the extent that even if it was a car, it would not enter the reverse gear. I will reposition the state.”
He berated Governor Kayode Fayemi for not treating teachers well and promised to take care of all workers in the state if voted in.
