Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, Nigeria
Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi on Saturday declared that there is no more faction in the state All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking after the affirmation by the delegates from the 33 local government area of the state, the governor noted that the election of the state executive of the party had been cordial, peaceful and harmonious.
Ajimobi who noted that state congresses had not been peaceful in some states of the federation, said "I have never seen any congress as peaceful as this. "We must give and take. We must avoid winner's take all syndrome," he declared.
He warned new members against faction in the APC, saying that they should learn how to work together. "We must work together in harmony, unite our people. Your election signifies the end of faction in the party, he declared.
He charged them to have the fear of God in the discharge of their duties, saying that they have to make sacrifices in the interest of the party.
Earlier, the chairman of the state congress committee, Engineer Sola Akinwunmi who noted the conclusion of the congresses which commenced in April 5 was aimed at laying a solid democratic structure for the party.
While noting that there were hitches in the ward and local congresses, he disclosed that the state governor had waded in with a view to resolving the differences.
He said that there were obstacles at Atiba and Oyo West Local Government Areas and called for speedy resolve of the impasse.
He charged the new state executive members to adhere strictly to the party's constitution.
Chief Akin Oke was elected chairman of APC in the state, Alhaji Alimi Isiaka (Deputy Chairman), Mojeed Olaiya (Secretary) and Bosun Ladele (Legal Adviser) among others.
