Oyo Police reacts to rumour on Boko Haram attack.

The Oyo state Police command reacts to rumour of Boko Haram attack on Lagos/ Ibadan express way during a press release at the Eleyele state command today April 23rd,2014.

According to the Police Public Relation (PPRO) SP. Olabisi  Ilobanafor, the vicious rumour making rounds through social media and text messages, that 18 suspected Boko Haram members had laid siege on Lagos/Ibadan express way with AK47 riffles, where it was claimed that 9 Policemen were killed and 11 civilians, is not only untrue but also a concoction of lies that emanated from the mind of unserious and malicious elements.

The Police command, advised members of the public to discountenance the web of wicked lies and desist from assisting in spreading false rumours through their mobile phones and social media. ''Lagos/Ibadan express way is safe and devoid of any violent attack'' the PPRO said.

Furthermore, she said there was an occurrence of lone auto crash, involving a trailer loaded with bags of wheat, the Policemen, road safety, Op-Mesa and other security officers were only at the scene to control traffic and clear traffic gridlock cause by the accident.

The Police command, hereby assure members of the public of their safety and also advise them to desist from peddling rumours that are capable of causing breach of the public peace.
