Police Arraigns 4 MTN Employees for allegedly stealing N.3m cables

NIGERIA (Ogun)-The Nigerian Police Force, Ogun State Command, has arraigned four employees of a telecommunication company, MTN, for allegedly stealing cables valued at N300,000.

The arraigned suspects are Okoli Calistus, 30, John Marshal, 31, David John, 38 and Victor Salami, 30.

Speaking during the court session on Tuesday, the Prosecutor, Inspector, Sunday Eigbejiale said the suspects committed the crime on March 26 at T.193 Power Hill Substation in Abeokuta adding that the accused  stole the cable when they were deployed to the substation.

According to him, the offence contravened sections 517 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

Meanwhile, the Magistrate, Mr Martins Akinyemi, granted each accused person  bail in the sum of N100,000  with one surety  in like sum.

Akinyemi adjourned the case till June 19 for hearing.
