Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed
NIGERIA (Kwara)-N130.26bn Kwara State Appropriation Act was signed into law by the State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed on Monday.
Speaking during the signing ceremony in Ilorin, Governor Ahmed pledged that his administration will provide new vistas for confronting developmental challenges in the State.
He said the 2014 budget with the theme, ‘Budget of Expansion for Inclusive Prosperity,’ provided a blueprint for building major new projects.
Furthermore, the Governor said the budget will put more money in people’s pockets, get more youths into work; remodel additional hospitals and build more schools and roads in the state.
He commended the state legislature for increasing the budget size by five per cent from N124.525bn to N130.26bn.
According to him, the increase accommodated ‘the delays in securing the proposed N30bn bond and an internal term loan of N5bn for social-economic capital projects.’
The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Mr. Razaq Atunwa, said the 2004 Appropriate Act was prepared in line with international best practices in accounting procedure.
