Board allocates 100 Hajj seats to Bauchi local government

NIGERIA (Bauchi)-The Bauchi State Pilgrims Welfare Board has allocated 100 seats to Bauchi Local Government Council out of the 2,700 seats it got from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.

The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the council, Lawal Abubakar, announced this on Monday in Bauchi while inaugurating the local government committee on 2014 Hajj.

Mr. Abubakar said that 80 per cent of the seats would be allocated to prospective pilgrims who had never performed the hajj in the area.

He urged the committee to exhibit high level of justice and fair play while carrying out its assignment, especially in the distribution of seats and enlightenment campaign.

Mr. Abubakar commended the state government its assistance in the area of finance and kit for the operation in the state during previous years.

Responding, the Chairman of the committee, Nura Jumba, assured that everything possible would be done to ensure that the seats were allocated to deserving pilgrims from the area.

Mr. Jumba, who is also the District Head of Bauchi, advised prospective pilgrims to avail themselves of the services of the committee.

He assured that the committee would be fair to all pilgrims (NAN).
