NIGERIA (Ekiti)-Ahead of the 2014 Governorship Election in Ekiti State, Governor Kayode Fayemi has collected the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) nomination form for the election scheduled for June 21.

After collecting the form for N5 million at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, Fayemi said his decision to seek re-election was a response to several calls by the people of the state.

He said the vote of confidence given to his administration by the people of Ekiti was a resounding victory for the APC.

“Today is a landmark towards our journey for collective consolidation and building our state and recognition of APC’s commitment to due process with a view to satisfying the aspirations of the people.’’

According to him, since the merger of opposition political parties into APC, it is enjoying overwhelming support from people from all walks of life.

“We have absolutely no doubt in our mind that come 2015 presidential election, the victory is ours if the people have the power.’’

He, however, urged the people of the state to be very vigilant in the days ahead to ensure victory for APC in the forthcoming election.

Fayemi said the recent death of young people in the course of seeking employment in the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) was a “sad commentary on the integrity of the country.’’

Responding, APC’s Interim National Secretary, Alhaji Tijjani Tumsa, described the performance of Fayemi in office as a reflection of the party’s ideology in the country.

According to Tumsa, APC is accepted by the people of Ekiti as a necessary agent of change.

Fayemi was accompanied by the state’s APC Interim Chairman, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Youths and Market Women Association, among others.

NAN gathered that Fayemi would be the sole flag bearer of the APC in the governorship polls.
