Boko Haram: Women protest against killings

Women in Oyo State under the eagis of the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) on Thursday staged peaceful protest to the office of the state governor,Senator Abiola Ajimobi, protesting the gruesome killing of some students by terrorists in Northern Nigeria.

Led by the state President, Princess Victoria Adetona, the society, which came with placards with various inscriptions, called on the political office holders to put a stop to the indecent killing going on the North.

Some of the inscriptions on the placards reads "This dastardly act must stop.", "protect usĀ  and our children", enough is enough, our children are innocent", consider our pains as mothers", among many others.

"As mothers we have come to express our deepest feeling to the killing of innocent children in the North in the name of expressing their bitterness against the Federal government. This is totally inhuman, and a total act of wickedness against us mother. We cannot continue to see those who we called the leaders of tomorrow being killed mercilessly like that. We appeal to the government to find a lasting solution to this problem," she said

Respnding, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Ismael Alli, who represented Governor Abiola Ajimobi thanked the mothers, for making the protest a peaceful one. He assured them of the state government's resolve to contribute to the final resolution of the crisis.

According to him, the state government despite the fact that the act happened far away North is deeply touched because it is a security issue. Alli said the state government which prioritized security of live and properties in ensuring that the state is peaceful the birth of this administration will not hesitate to suggest ways at finding a lasting solution to the terrorism attack in the North.
