The chairman, Conference of Oke-Ogun Obas & Chiefs and the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba (Dr) abdul Ganeey Adekunle Salau, has lamented the deteriorated state of federal roads in the area.

Speaking with newsmen on Saturday in his palace, he said the roads include 30-km access road from Iseyin township to Ikere George Dam, where the Federal Government had sunk billions of naira and the abandoned Sokoto/Badagry road.

To this end, Oba Salau who stressed the economic value of the aforementioned roads to the government, appealed that the roads should be constructed in earnest more so that the bridge on the Iseyin/Maya/Abeokuta/Lagos road has collapsed.

Not only that, he called on the Federal Government to make its presence felt in the zone adding that it was lamentable that Oke-Ogun with 10 local government areas had no federal presence. "Iseyin local government alone is large enough to be four local government areas in some states," he added.

Oba Salau also regretted that a paltry sum was voted for the construction of the Ikere Gorge dam road. The traditional ruler also challenged the president to visit the zone personally to see the level of neglect, deprivation and suffering of the people.

"We don't want an intermediary between us and President Jonathan. We want you to relate with us personally and not through an intermediary", he added.

Oba Salau also called for the appointment of indigenes of the area as ministers, vices chancellors, heads of parastatals, etc.

The royal father also called on the state government to respect the Oloko panel by upgrading their status from Conference of Oke-Ogun Obas & Chiefs to Council of Oke-Ogun Obas & Chiefs to free them from bondage, oppression and dehumanization.
