Fomer Presidential Candidate of the National Action Council(NAC) Dr.Olapade Agoro
Worried by the state of insecurity across Nigeria, the General Overseer of Fullstature Missions International (FMI), Apostle Isaiah Dayo Lawon and former Presidential candidate of the National Action Council(NAC), Dr. Olapade Agoro have called on the Federal Government to formulate a new policy on the country’s borders.
Specifically, the cleric tasked government to, without further delay, seek partnership with Israel and France in the area of security in view of the porosity of most of the nation’s borders. Apostle Lawon made the calls in Ibadan, Oyo State capital over the weekend while delivering a lecture entitled “The Four Blood Moons”, a topic which draws on the scripture, science and recorded history on the global phenomena which he aptly referred to as the signposts of the last day events to usher in the kingdom. While noting with delight that Nigeria currently enjoys cordial diplomatic relationship with Israel and France, the cleric however emphasized the need to further deepen the relationship to boost security at the borders.
According to him, the bilateral relationship with Israel has already impacted on Nigeria’s agricultural sector just as France has also become a major player in the area of international security as there are more Franco-phone countries in Africa than Anglo-phone countries.“Israel should help Nigeria more, especially in the area of security,” Apostle Lawon stated.
He said: “Israeli borders are not porous as Nigeria’s borders. The porosity of Nigeria’s borders has created a big problem for the country. Government should do something about the porosity of the borders. A new policy on the borders should be enacted. And Israel can help in this area. “As regards France, it should be noted that France has also become a major player in the area of international security as there are more Franco-phone countries in Africa than Anglo-phone countries.”
Agoro urge Jonathan to be courageous enough to invite Boko Haram's supporters for questioning, saying that the President should order security agents to go after some northern leaders, who are known as supporters of the dreaded Boko Haram.
Speaking with newsmen at his Apata-Ganga, Ibadan residence on the recent spate of violence in some northern states, Agoro noted that the continued orgy of violence in the area indicated that some northern leaders, not Boko Haram, are the ones fighting with President Jonathan.
The former NAC’s Presidential candidate lamented that it was unfortunate that these people were fighting with the President without knowing that they are killing Nigeria in instalments.
“Since we cannot be playing politics and defending democracy with the blood of innocent Nigerians, for realistic solution to be found, poison must be applied to kill the cancer,” he said.
According to Agoro, President Jonathan should also round up political and religious leaders in the effected northern states for questioning on what they know about Boko Haram and possible solutions to the insurgency.
His words: “Insurgents don’t live in holes, they live among us. Enough of the pretence about their whereabouts and shifting the blame on Cameroon and some other neighbouring countries.
“It should also be noted that up till now, besides General Abdulsalam Abubakar, no other Nigerian leader of the northern extraction had openly condemned the Boko Haram insurgency. They have not also proffered solution to it,” he added.
