It was a gathering of crème de la crème members of the Armed Forces, paramilitary, governmental and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and distinguished personalities as 2 Division sent forth former General Officer Commanding (GOC) Major General AT Jibrin at the Tiger Officers’ Mess, Agodi, Ibadan.

The Special Guest of Honour, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi graced the occasion. In his remarks, he described the former GOC as a “Generals General” and commended him for his good leadership.

While making a remark the in-coming GOC Major General Emanuel Abejirin expressed delight over the achievements of the out-going GOC saying that they are overwhelming. He urged officers and men of the Division to extend the same kind of support they bestowed on General Jibrin to him. General Abejirin recounted some of the previous encounters he had with the outgoing GOC at home and abroad saying he is proud of him any day any time.

In his remarks the outgoing GOC thanked God Almighty for a successful tenure as GOC 2 Division, and used the opportunity to thank officers and soldiers of 2 Division for their support while urging them to extend the same or even more to the in-coming GOC. General Jibrin appreciated Governor Ajimobi who stormed the event in a grand style thanking him for finding time to attend the ceremony.

The event witnessed presentation of gifts to the outgoing GOC by the President Mess Committee (PMC) Brigadier General Johnson Oladeinde and honourary members of the Mess, some heads of sister security services in Oyo State, the Corps members serving under the Division and Letmuck Cantonment also displayed groundbreaking performances at the ceremony. There were refreshments, dances, mind blowing jokes, and other side attractions.

In a vote of thanks the PMC thanked Governor Ajimobi, the former GOC Major General OO Oshinowo, outgoing and incoming GOCs, members of the Mess Committee, Honourary members of the Mess, heads of industries and parastatals, corps members and other invited guests thanking them for finding time to attend the ceremony.
