NIGERIA (Kwara)-The Chief Judge of Kwara, Justice Ayinla Bamgbola, on Monday discharged 13 prison inmates at the Federal Prison, Okekura, Ilorin.
Bamgbola, who discharged the inmates during his quarterly visit to the prison, said it was part of the decongestion efforts in the state.
“My decision to discharge the inmates is in line with my determination to ensure justice to those who were wrongly imprisoned and to decongest prisons in the state,” he said.
He gave the names of the inmates as Sesan Adeyemi, Michael Taiwo, Kehinde Aremu, Wasiu Ishiaq, Friday David, Yusuf Abdullahi, Aminu Bala, Muhammed Hassan and Sheu Amodu.
Others are Haruna Mohamned, David Moses, Ajoke Musilimat and Jimoh Abubakar.
The beneficiaries, he said, were those that were wrongly charged with no evidence against them.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the discharged inmates were made up of 12 males and a female.
