NIGERIA (Kwara)-There was tragedy at a hotel yesterday when a policeman, Yunusa Muideen, allegedly shot dead a politician in Oro, Irepodun Local Government known as Femi Awoyale.

The victim, according to findings, was said to be a former Irepodun LG Chairmanship aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

It was gathered that at about 11.55 pm, Muideen, a corporal, who was one of the policemen the hotel manager employed to ensure safety of lives and properties of Valentine’s Day love seekers, was deeply asleep after getting drunk, only to be awaken by the noise from the vicinity.

When the cop suspected that the noise was from some trouble makers, he shot twice in the air to scare the suspected hooligans.  

Sources revealed that after the noise had stopped, Muideen was about to take another nap when he suddenly hit his gun against the wall and bullets were discharged from the weapon which hit Awoyale, who was in the vicinity.

It was reported that the victim fell down and died before he could be treated.
