27 Year-Old Man Arraigned For Trying to Dupe Minister

NIGERIA (Abuja)- A 27-year-old man, Henry Uzoma, has been arraigned by the Nigerian Police for attempting to dupe the Minister for Power, Prof. Chinedu Nebo.

Uzoma, according to the Police Prosecutor Cpl. David Udeh, called the Minister on phone asking for money.

It was further revealed that the accused, who is working with Julius Berger Quarry, Mpape, Abuja, used mobile phone number 07069331047 to call the Minister.

Police prosecutor Cpl. David Udeh told the court that Henry Uzoma of Julius Berger Quarry, Mpape, Abuja, called the minister on phone, telling him that his (Uzoma) mother was dead and that the minister should send him some money.

The matter , according to the Prosecutor, was reported at Wuse Police Station by Dr Chris Anyanwu of Faculty of Law, University of Nigeria, who was on a visit to the minister on that day.

Udeh said the offence contravened the provisions of the Penal Code.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge against him, while Senior Magistrate Katsina Ala granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety in like sum who has a reasonable means of livelihood and resident within the court’s jurisdiction.

The case has been adjourned the case to March 3 for hearing. (NAN)
