Police Hunts for Serial Killer in Tanzania

TANZANIA- A lone gunman, who has killed at least eight people and injured three over several nights in the northern region of Mara, is being hunted by the Tanzanian Police.

The man, according to the Citizen newspaper in Tanzania, often demand mobile phones and money from his victims, while on other occasions, he did not take anything away from them.

It was also gathered that the man began the serial attack on Saturday night at a bar in the region.

The gunman has also been attacking people he meets on the road, causing terror that has forced many businesses into opening later in the morning and closing earlier to avoid having any encounter with him.

Speaking about the incident, Tarima police commander Justus Kamugisha said the manhunt is in progress. He said a special operation involving about 160 police officers was launched on Thursday morning, the police commander said.

"We will not rest until we get him and bring him to book, Kamugisha said.
