The Honourable Minister of Defence,Brigadier General (rtd) Monsur Dan-Ali has commended the efforts and sacrifices of gallant officers and men of the Nigerian Army currently engaged in the counter insurgency operations in the North East and other operations across the country and abroad. 

The Minister gave the commendation in a Christmas and New Year message to the personnel, which was signed by Colonel Tukur Gusau Public Relations Officer to the Hon Minister of Defence and was made availabe to CEOAFRICA news desks .

DEFENCE MINISTERS CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR MESSAGE TO THE GALLANT TROOPS

1.        As we celebrate this year';s Christmas and New Year, it is important to

remember some of our gallant troops who won';t be home with families for

the holidays. Your engagement in various Operations within and out of the

country is well appreciated by the good people of Nigeria. You deserve a

special commendation. I am proud of your resilience and dedication to duty

to keep our country safe and free of terrorist and other criminal

activities. You have been an integral part of Nigeria';s success story in

the fight against insurgency and terrorism. Your hard work and patriotism

in these difficult times is helping the nation to grow stronger.

2.        As Honourable Minister of Defence, I am indeed proud of our Armed

Forces and the achievements you have recorded so far. I urge you to remain

focus in the fight against terrorism and insurgency so that our country

and the world in general will be free from the ills of terrorism.

3.        Finally, I wish to assure you of the Federal Government';s continuous

support and commitment for improvement of your welfare and general

well-being as you continue to put in your best for the nation.
