The African Country also known as Horn of Africa, Ethiopia says it's releasing nearly 10,000 people detained under the state of emergency imposed in October.

Ceoafrica gathered that the protesters of the oromia and Amahra regions demonstrated against political and economic marginalisation.

It was also learnt that another 2,500 will be charged with crimes related to unrest.

The authorities say the freed detainees have been given special training to ensure they will no longer engage in "destructive behaviour".

The situation has been relatively calm since the state of emergency came into force.
