Husband of an officer with the Nigerian Police was abducted yesterday evening by unknown gunmen, along Eku road in Delta state.

Ceoafrica gathered that the victim called his wife (names witheld) before his abduction while returning from a wedding function at Orerokpe in which he dropped his elder brother’s wife at a PTI junction at about 7pm.

It was further gathered that the Toyota Corolla car in which the victim was travelling was seen around Orerokpe where his  former wife, who had children for him, lives which arose speculations that the former wife could be the prime suspect behind the abduction because she demanded one of the victim’s buildings as her share of inheritance.

Moreover, sources explained that the man was whisked to an unknown destination along Warri-Benin expressway, as his wife who’s attached to B-Division said that the abductors had demanded a ransom of 10 million Naira with the words “we no go harm am.” Go rally for the money “we too wan do Christmas well”.

The policewoman added that she’s concerned about her husband’s release which would lead to the next line of action. She affirmed that he was coming from a wedding engagement on Monday evening.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Andrew Aniamaka, could not confirm the incident, saying “it is you journalists that should let us know what is happening.”

Meanwhile, it was learnt that the spate of kidnapping in the state, ahead the yuletide, is assuming an alarming rate owing to the alleged unceremonious deployment of about 12 District Police Officers (DPO) in the state.

Efforts to reach the Commissioner of Police, Mr Zanna Mohammed, to comment on the matter proved abortive.
