Police fired shots at students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso on Friday who took to the streets to protest the lingering strike action by teaching and non-teaching staff in the institution.

According to ceoafrica, the strike action, which paralysed academic activities started over six months ago in June by the workers due to the non-payment of their salaries and allowances by the university owners, the Oyo and Osun state governments.

It was gathered that today’s protest held in front of LAUTECH College of Health by the students turned rowdy as police disperse them with shots which made many scampered for safety.

However a student of the school who pleaded anonymity said “we have been on strike since June in which there have been several protests yet nothing done to salvage the situation, police came and started shooting at students thereby arresting some”.
