Police closes websites selling fake products.

In a bid to rid the African continent of corruption and illegality, the Police command, in connection with other security agencies have shut down four thousand, five hundred websites engaging in transaction of fake goods.
According to ceoafrica, the operation was carried out jointly by Europol, Interpol and U.S. legal authorities as part of a worldwide crackdown on trademark policy, which targeted websites in 27 countries by focusing their attention on online shops selling luxury goods, sportswear, replacement parts, medicines and cosmetics.
Europol said “The internet is increasingly being used to sell fake products, which is hazardous to consumers safety and security”.
The agencies have also launched a media campaign to educate consumers.
