A group, National Progressive Youth Forum (NPYFN), has challenged the Federal Government on stepping up its fight against corruption, unemployment and  the participation of Nigerian's  in online business, MMM. It  stated that building an enviable nation requires a collective effort and not an individual task.  As commonly acknowledged,  “government belongs to the people and not the people belonging to the government”.

This was contained in a release made available to CEOAFRICA in a state of the nation address, signed by its publicity secretary, Ajayi Dolapo.

While addressing corruption issues the group lamented that the fight has been selective, describing it as a “witch hunting process.”

He stated that the failure of the Federal Government to obey the ruling of the Economic Community of West African State (ECOWAS) court in respect of Col Sambo Dasuki the National Security Adviser to the Former President Goodluck Jonathan shows that there is no respect for the rule of law.

The statement stated that “the fight against corruption will amount to futility if the Code of Conduct Tribunal will not see to the ending of the false Declaration of Asset by the Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki, the issue of Budget Paddling between the Rt Hon Speaker Yakubu Dogara and Hon

Jibiril who have leveled a serious allegation and above all the forged or false result of the Mr President himself that begs for urgent attention.

“Also, the above named forum is totally against the $29.6billion to be borrowed by the federal government from whatever source as it is generally believed that the amount of money recovered within the last 24month is enough to finance our budget for two consecutive years running.

If the president and his team believe the Treasury Single Account has saved over N48billion, then where is the money been diverted to, why do Nigerians still live in pain and suffering?

Speaking on rising rate of unemployment, the group stated that “The rate at which unemployment increases on a daily basis is at a geometric progression and not at an arithmetic progression which inferably is a negative index to the growth and sustainability of our economy. For any growing economy, the youths must be gainfully employed. Nigeria is a country with over 200million population in which the youth accounts for not less than 70 per cent of the total population.

“It should also be noted that no amount of pressure will demystify the interest of Nigerians on MMM. Until a better alternative is provided for investment, Nigerians will keep investing their hard earn money on these programme as it has been seen as a means of survival,” part of the statement read.
