Reports just reaching CEOAFRICA’s news desk reveals that Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, on Friday relieved his Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, Sir Joe Akpa, of his appointment.

This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant to the governor on Electronic Media, in Port Harcourt.

The statement did not give any reason for the sack but wished the former aide well in his endeavours.

Mr Akpa, a former director in the office of the state’s secretary to government, was appointed senior special assistant on August 3, 2015, and was charged with with arranging Governor Wike’s appointments and engagements.

The sack of the aide came about a month after the governor recalled four commissioners earlier suspended from office.

The commissioners recalled by the governor were John Bazia, Chieftaincy Affairs; Tonye Briggs-Oniyide; Culture and Tourism; Fred Kpakol, Finance and Boma Iyaye, Sports.
