With a view to expanding the frontiers of knowledge and to promote academic research, a senior lecturer of the Department of History and Diplomatic Studies at the University of Port Harcourt, River State, Dr Mfon Umoren Ekpootu has recently launched her official website, www.mfonumorenekpootu.org

Dr Ekpootu, a renowned academic and a prolific researcher, launched the website to serve as a forum for scholarly interaction and intellectual brainstorming on issues that will impact positively on Nigeria and the World at large.  She described the website as a veritable channel for intellectual discourse of National and Global issues. The website would serve as a platform for academics, students as well as policy makers and activists to push forward the conversation on Nigeria and Africa's developmental path.

She noted the immeasurable benefits of taking advantage of the technologies that abound in this digital-information age for advancement of leaning and research. Utilizing its wide reach, the website will aim to sensitize the public on the importance of history and the application to contemporary issues.
