The National assembly yesterday queried the disbursement of N80 billion out of the N500 billion social intervention funds to undisclosed people without senators.

According to CEOAFRICA’s source, Leadership, the resolution is sequel to a motion by the senate leader, Ali Ndume (APC Borno South) titled “the Need to avoid the mismanagement of the 500 billion social intervention funds” who drew the attention of the senate over the disbursement.

It warned against mismanagement of the intervention fund, adding that previous intervention projects were poorly managed without yielding the necessary result.

The senate noted that in order to avoid the pit falls of the past intervention schemes, the federal government should take another look at the N500 billion intervention programme to incorporate manual registration of beneficiaries from all wards and local governments in the country.

It also asked the federal government to present a clear framework that does not marginalise any segment of the country and present same to the National Assembly within two weeks.
